In May 2026, Prime Care Trainers (PCT) had the opportunity to participate in the Kenya Cardiac Society Symposium, held at Ibis Hotel, Nairobi.
The symposium brought together healthcare professionals with an interest in cardiovascular medicine, providing an important platform for knowledge sharing, professional development and discussion around contemporary approaches to cardiac care.
Representing Prime Care Trainers was Steve Khamisi, PCT Training Director, who delivered a presentation titled:
“Introduction to Holter Monitoring”
Understanding Holter Monitoring
Holter monitoring is an important tool in the assessment of cardiac rhythm.
Unlike a standard electrocardiogram (ECG), which provides a snapshot of the heart’s electrical activity over a short period, a Holter monitor allows continuous recording of the heart’s electrical activity over an extended period while the patient goes about their normal daily activities.
This can be particularly useful when symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, fainting or intermittent episodes of an abnormal heart rhythm are not captured during a routine ECG.
The presentation provided participants with an introduction to the role of Holter monitoring and its place within the broader assessment of patients with suspected cardiac rhythm abnormalities.
Bringing Practical Knowledge to Healthcare Professionals
