FirstAidMtaani at JKUAT

Nov 2025

This past weekend marked another powerful milestone for community emergency preparedness as Prime Care Trainers (PCT) partnered with Life Bridge Emergencies Kenya to deliver the #FirstAidMtaani outreach training.

What began as a simple skills-training session quickly grew into a vibrant, hands-on learning experience filled with energy, curiosity, and a clear desire among the students to make a positive impact both within their campus and in the wider community.

At the heart of the #FirstAidMtaani program—one of the key pillars of the PCT Champions CSR Initiative—is a deep commitment to strengthening the Frame of Survival by equipping ordinary citizens with practical and reliable first aid knowledge.

The idea is simple yet powerful: lifesaving skills should not be confined to hospitals or emergency teams alone. Everyone, especially young people, should be empowered to take action when moments of crisis arise.

During the JKUAT outreach, students engaged in essential skills such as CPR, choking management for both adults and children, bleeding control, basic trauma care, scene safety, and emergency activation procedures.

Under the guidance of trained instructors from both PCT and Life Bridge Emergencies Kenya, they practiced simulations, learned decision-making in emergencies, and gained the confidence to respond effectively in real-life situations.

One of the most impactful moments of the day was the activation of the JKUAT First Aid Club, a student-led initiative that will champion consistent first aid awareness, regular peer-to-peer training, and a culture of preparedness across the campus. This club now becomes a platform for ongoing mentorship, refresher sessions, and collaboration with PCT and Life Bridge Emergencies Kenya, ensuring that the momentum built during the outreach continues long after the event.

The enthusiasm and unity displayed by the students reaffirmed why community-focused programs like #FirstAidMtaani matter so deeply. By equipping young people with practical emergency response skills, we are not only making communities safer but also nurturing a generation that understands the responsibility of stepping in and taking action when it truly counts.

This ripple effect—empowered individuals influencing their peers, families, and neighborhoods—continues to strengthen the broader mission of the Friends-of-PCT Network, which exists to expand lifesaving knowledge across Kenya.

Prime Care Trainers extends heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to making this outreach a success: the dedicated students of JKUAT, the leadership of Life Bridge Emergencies Kenya, the instructors and volunteers, and the wider Friends-of-PCT community whose ongoing support keeps this mission alive. Together, we are building a more prepared, resilient, and safety-conscious generation.
