With the understanding that most emergencies occur within our communities and the many challenges experienced whenever organizing for an ambulance/transport to a hospital facility, the PCT-Champions and Friends-of-PCT have undertaken to conduct a series of CSR events geared towards equipping and empowering the common citizen with the much-needed skills of First Aid.

Following a partnership and earlier promise made in Dec 2023, the women and youth leaders at Kabiro Kawariru CBO were engaged in a free training workshop organized by Prime Care Trainers [PCT] this past Saturday, 20th Apr, 2024; where the participants were taken through the important skills of Basic First Aid & High Quality CPR.

The following objectives were covered by way of simulated case discussions & practical skills sessions:

1. Introduction to First Aid
2. Medical Legal Aspects of First Aid
3. Universal Precautions & Safety when conducting First Aid
4. Primary Survey ‘Finding the Problem’
5. Assisting a patient who has fainted.
6. Assisting in Cardiopulmonary Arrest (adult & infant scenarios)
7. Assisting in chocking (adult & infant scenarios)
8. First Aid to a patient experiencing a seizure /convulsion.
9. General approach to first aid during medical emergencies

A total of 20 volunteers from this community participated in this initial First Aid Club Activation and benefited from the interaction with the PCT Instructors.

Follow-up sessions will be scheduled to continue supporting this team and ensure compliance to the set standard.

Looking forward to partner with other organized groups e.g. schools, churches, youth groups and CBOs that they too many benefit from this CSR program.
